Community Kitchens

Cooking & eating together

Community kitchen

Details

Community Kitchens bring people together through food. They are inclusive spaces that connect people from all different backgrounds, to share skills, memories and inspiration through making and eating good food.

In this way, they don’t just tackle food poverty, but support community members’ mental health and alleviate loneliness and social isolation.

The Hythe Youth Centre offers a fantastic Community Kitchen every 2 weeks on a wednesday 9am – 1pm. Anyone can attend, have a cuppa, chat with other locals, join in as much as you would like with helping and learning about how to prepare that day’s feast, and then there is a delicious free lunch served around 12noon.

There are plans now for a further 4 community kitchens across the district across 2026-2027, at:

  • Folkestone Community Fridge
  • All Saints Church, Lydd
  • The Lighthouse, New Romney
  • Hythe Age UK
