No-one Goes Hungry

Free & affordable food for the community

no-one goes hungry

Details

No-One Goes Hungry brings together local authority services, charities and social enterprises, community groups, food retailers and local farms to help ensure everyone has access to food.

By redistributing surplus food and coordinating community support, the project offers welcoming, practical support for people facing difficult times, and protects a sense of dignity while connecting people with the support they need, including:

  • free hot meals
  • food banks for eligible households
  • low-cost food pantries through affordable membership schemes
  • community fridges and cupboards where anyone can access free food with no referral or questions asked

Together, we’re reducing food waste, strengthening our communities, and helping ensure that no one has to go hungry.

For a live schedule of food offerings, please check out the folke.world directory and calendar

A specific Christmas-time directory and calendar will be published soon.

Next Steps for the Project

1) Measuring success and seeing where the gaps are

In July – September 2026, the project partners were designing and piloting how we can best measure our collective social impact. In other words, what do the people using these services say they like, don’t like, and need more of? Is there anyone missing out that needs help with food insecurity? And how do we take action on this feedback?

We will launch the full impact measurement protocol in November and publish the outcomes twice per year, here on the website.

2) Quality as well as Quantity

Food insecurity and diet-related illness often go together, and nutritious food can make a real difference to health & wellbeing.

In the next phase of our project, we will be responding to the voices of the people using the services who tell us that – while they’re grateful for any and all support they get with free and/or affordable foods – they recognise a need to look after themselves and their loved ones by eating healthy foods.

We will therefore explore ways to

  • encourage healthy food donations
  • increase the healthy food options in the services that provide hot meals and snacks
  • campaign for policy changes to support the right to good food
  • offer more classes on how to cook healthy food on a budget

How you can help

We would love to hear from you if:

  • you’d like to help with measuring our social impact, by collecting impact data at one or more of the sites
  • you know of projects, people or places you are aware of that help tackle food insecurity, that aren’t in the ‘key partners’ list above and might want to get involved in the partnership
